What is the Robotic Plague? How did it spread? How many people were infected?

All of these questions are just a matter of fact to Team 375! Are you curious? Are you? Well, here are the answers. The Robotic Plague, located in Staten Island, NY, took its roots at the Staten Island Technical High School in the year 2000. This 11-year-old team, at first, had a relatively small number of recruits, but it grew and grew. Now, it claims over thirty members, dozens of alumni, few exceptional mentors, and dedicated sponsors, parents, and volunteers.

Team 375 introduced FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics and all of its values into the aforementioned school. The purpose of this program is to help students establish a foundation for their interest in engineering, build character, teach teamwork and dedication. FIRST Robotics, as interpreted by Team 375, is an after-school activity which has a life-size impact. Students, in their quest for a completed machine, become team-mates and build robots that correspond to annual challenges. However, they do not just build robots. They build friendship and develop very important skills.

Engineering is a very broad concept, and it involves building, thinking, designing, public speaking, planning, researching, collaborating, and having fun. Students infected by the Robotic Plague learn how to do all of the above, becoming well-rounded individuals. They develop real-world business techniques, learn to understand how to work with different people of various backgrounds for one common goal. Students form a communication network, partnerships, get the chance to apply for numerous scholarships, travel around the United States to meet accomplished engineers, explore different robot designs, and more.

Students on our team are involved in:
  • Mechanical Construction
  • Electrical Work
  • Programming and Networking
  • Computer-Aided Design
  • Animation and Media
  • Web Development and Graphics
  • Technical Writing
  • Public Speaking
  • Business and Public Affairs

Disguised by camouflage, this group plagues FIRST Robotics regional and national competitions annually, conquering many awards using robots and gracious professionalism. We assure you that the Robotic Plague is a very interesting team!
